Block Action Team (BAT) #103 was one of the recent participants in the City of Los Altos Community and Emergency Preparedness Grant Program. BAT Leaders Steve Houtchens, Julie Mahowald, and Pete Mahowald report from their weekend Ice Cream Social:
Our annual Ice Cream Social was a draw for both young and experienced ice cream eaters! However, the crowd enjoyed, even more, the chance to meet and enjoy a few minutes with our friendly Los Altos police officers.
Then, we topped off the afternoon with the distribution of ten Emergency Kits, and were thoroughly impressed with the youngest (6 years old) child’s knowledge of the contents in the kit! We are definitely in good hands with our younger generation in the neighborhood.
Eleven of the 15 homes in BAT 103 were represented at the event. After distributing 10 emergency kits, we also received a request from one adjacent home to join our BAT, and requests for a few additional emergency kits from BAT families on vacation at the time.
Thanks again to the City of Los Altos for sponsoring the Grants and to Los Altos Community Foundation for supporting the BAT Program.
