The City of Los Altos is pleased to offer free Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) courses to Los Altos residents.
PEP is a 3-hour class designed to prepare you in the event of a disaster, and to be self-sufficient during the first 72 hours or until emergency relief is available.
You just experienced an earthquake and smell gas. Do you know what to do?
Do you just dial 911?
If the earthquake was strong enough, you may not be the only one dialing 911 and any on-site response may be delayed by hours. So what do you do? PEP covers topics just like this, allowing you to quickly react on your own rather than just waiting for help to arrive.
This free course is taught by Santa Clara County Fire Department personnel – experts that practice preparedness every day.
